We’re thrilled to welcome David Berdine to the Badgley Phelps team! Read on to discover his journey and the driving forces behind his success.
Background
David began his career in Seattle at a local municipal bond firm on their trading desk. His professional path has since taken him across the country, with roles at Aston Asset Management (AMG) in Chicago and Fred Alger & Company in New York City. Now back in his home state, David brings his experience to Badgley Phelps, where he works closely with our Strategic Partners and develops our Centers of Influence to attract new clients to help them meet their financial goals. “My motivation comes from the challenge of building and developing these new relationships for the firm,” David says.
A client-driven approach
David approaches his role with the belief that keeping emotions in check is essential for success in the financial services industry. “As Gordon Gekko in the movie Wall Street said, ‘Never get emotional about stock.’ I think this applies to all the financial services in that you should never get caught up in the emotion of the event and always do what is best for the client,” David says. This philosophy drives his commitment to providing clients with sound, strategic guidance, no matter the market conditions.
Why Badgley Phelps?
David feels right at home in the team-driven culture of Badgley Phelps. “I really enjoy working at Badgley because of the culture and team environment,” David explains. “Everyone works hard and is dedicated to their job, but we also take the time to help each other out in the best interest of the firm.”
Inspiration from family
The supportive and hardworking atmosphere at Badgley Phelps aligns with David’s own values and work ethic, which he learned from his grandfather. “My grandfather is my role model because he became an entrepreneur and started his own business at a very young age, ” David explains. “When I was old enough to work, I spent my summers working for him and learned the value of not only working hard, but also working smart.”
These lessons have shaped David’s approach to his career and continue to drive his dedication to helping clients and building meaningful relationships within the wealth management industry.
Outside work
Outside of the office, David spends his free time working out, tackling home DIY projects, and spending time with his family. He also loves to travel, both locally and abroad and is close to getting his million-miler card.
We are excited to have David Berdine as part of the Badgley Phelps team.
